Welcome to Woodford
Woodford is a green and leafy suburban town in Essex, at the edge of east London. Woodford Historical Society was set up in 1932, so in 2012 we celebrated our 80th anniversary!
Please spend some time looking around our site. We’re always pleased to know about anyone undertaking research into the many aspects of Woodford and its surrounding area, so do get in touch if you have something you would like to add or share.
We aim to stimulate interest in the history of Woodford and its locality, providing regular meetings with a friendly atmosphere and interesting subjects. We also encourage the preservation of items of local historical value, organise lectures, outings, exhibitions and support archaeological work in the district. Our scope is as wide as your interest and we welcome suggestions for new speakers and topics.
Zoom in and out to see how lovely the area is, and how close we are to London!
